Marathoner-in-waiting

Tomorrow.  Tomorrow, I run my first marathon.

I just wanted to post one last time before the big day, let you know how I’m doing.

I’m good. I feel good! I feel confident, and as ready as I can be for this challenge.

All my checklist items are done, except for dinner and lights out later, so for now I’m relaxing.  I’ve finished a good book and in a minute I’ll pop Cool Runnings on and watch that. It’s a fun, inspirational film and just the thing I need right now!

I would like to say as big a thank you as I can to everyone who has supported me, encouraged me and believed in me. You’re all a part of what’s gotten me to the start line.

I’m also very grateful to everyone who has donated to the Dublin Simon Community in support of my marathon.  The amount given so far has blown all my expectations out of the water.  It’s humbling and inspiring and something I’ll remember forever.

Cross your fingers for me for a good sleep tonight, favourable weather tomorrow and a fantastic run for everyone.

Tweet me a good luck or leave one in the comments below. I’ll carry them with me through the course and count them as cheers to keep me going!

  1. Don’t start too fast. It’s obvious but is so easy to do with the excitement. Have a plan and try to stick to it. Good Luck. I chant to myself when it’s getting tuff. “You can do it, You can do it” 🙂

    1. Thanks! I do have a plan and will do my darndest to stick to it! I hear the crowds can be really influential though 😛 I will be sure to keep it slow and even at the start!

  2. Best of luck tomorrow and above all enjoy it! I’ll be running it too and I absolutely love this race, hands down my favourite. Have enjoyed following your progress and look forward to hearing all about how you get on. Go get em! 🙂

  3. Good luck! I’ve just finished reading your blog up to now I’ve just started running and you’re an inspiration.
